Risk Factor has found no historic records of tornado events since 1955, or hurricane events since 1851 near Albuquerque, but that doesn't mean this area has never been impacted in the past.

The highest risk of tornadoes is in the east during April through July, but tornadoes are possible with any thunderstorm. New Mexico averages about 10 tornadoes in a year.
